Responsible for HR and Technology, functions vital to CN’s U.S. acquisitions. Reported to the CEO; member of strategic and operating committees. Provided functional leadership on organization development, change management and effective development of human capital as market capitalization increased from $2 billion to $9 billion. Extensive board involvement after 1995 IPO, evolving the succession, performance management and executive compensation systems required of an NYSE/TSE-listed public company.
Reported to the CEO of management holding company, responsible for HR, legal, corporate secretarial and government affairs. As a line-oriented member of a small management committee, participated in all capital allocation decisions as well as diverse acquisitions and divestitures in the U.S. and offshore. Significant board involvement at the corporate level, with various U.S. and Mexican subsidiaries, and with Interbrew, which acquired John Labatt in 1995.
Progressed through a series of positions covering all aspects of human resources, culminating in executive responsibility as Vice President, Training (1983–1987).
